staring at the ceiling
on: February 29, 2020, 02:40:46
have had a weird couple of months personally and creatively
I've got ableton now and can do the basics but feel completely overwhelmed by the prospect of making something good
in turn, I've made nothing at all

so last night i just went back to garage band, with a new microphone this time
and wrote about the weird months I've had personally
came up with a  really short song to give me a sense of creative release
i think its quite nice

@harriettornqvist - sunding good. INteresting that you reach more fruitful songwriting with less knobs and faders to work. Less is more.
Mixwise you might what to try less reverb on the vocal, while the music around it  breathes more... just a thought. Keep it up!

You have a really pretty voice and a total knack for songwriting.

I think it's great that you went in there and made something anyway. It's not about perfection. You TOTALLY get the vibe for what you're going for from this. I would love to hear a full production, of course. But I do think it's important to just keep on creating. Can't wait to hear more!!

@harriettornqvist Does the name Alanis Morissette mean anything to you? I bet it does. This sounds quite like her, even if Alanis often shows a little more agression in her voice than you tend to do. You have a great gift in that voice.

Great little tune @harriettornqvist .....I mean.....it's really quite nice indeed.  :D

Good for you to just get in there and put this down with the tools you are comfortable with. But you have serious talent for both writing and performing......how cool would it be to hear your work in a serious studio production.?

I don't think you really need all of that sophisticated recording tech for a song like this. You have found a way that works for you to get your music/feelings down using simple techniques. Came across well here on my listening system. Sometimes we just do what we can, and you did .

At only about a minute in length maybe this is the beginning for something a little longer...or not. Up to you.

So you've got as far as the middle eight @harriettornqvist so change it a bit have a reflective section with a different speed or similar.

Perhaps since you've brought in weed you can have a section where you can bring in a bit of a 'lost in thought section - a bit out of your head '  and then come back into the original pattern to finish off the song.

I think you need to work on your middle-eights from a songwriting point of view when you go off at a tangent for a while before coming back to the main pattern.

Good Job

This is absolutely incredible in my opinion. Hope this isnít the last we see of it, though it certainly could feel complete as is.
