The Boy I Left Behind

Hello all,

It has been a while but I have been doing some writing and recording over the last few months and think I'll start sharing again!

I wrote this one v quickly and messed around with some effects on the backing vocals. Ignore the slight miss-rhythms if you can and as always my production quality is not great but I tried my best.

@Alex - welcome back. BILB sounds wonderful. delicate guitar and soulful singing. Only comment I could offer, at 1 minute the volume jumps a bit. Thta could be easily fixed, and off course has nothing to do with songwriting per se.

sounds like Trump...

This is a fantastic song @Alex and a pretty good demo of it as well.  You definitely capture the essential feeling and swing and you sound SO good!

I would LOVE to hear this song as a full production but it's just really good to be hearing you do your thing again.

@Alex I recognise the same jump in volume that @oorlab notices. There are 2 in fact. He's right, this can easily be fixed.

As for the song. Nice and catchy. It has a bit of a Sheryl Crow flavour, and that can't possibly be bad. I quite enjoyed listening to it. Very good and matching vocal.

i picked up on that sheryl crow thing right away, but thats a good thing I think, and I think its a unique song.    Lane

+1 on the Sheryl references already mentioned. And there is something very odd happening at the 2 min (and 2.03 as well), like a cut&paste that went wrong?
Great song and great performance, really deserves a better production.

I simply love it to pieces.
Way better that the volume jumps than my left eye. (Chicken Shack among others).

@Alex - echoing the others, this is a great song and you have a lovely voice and delivery. Another SC fan here and I agree with the ref! Lovely stuff!
