The End of Experience

This is a song began as a song about my frustration mid-career, thinking that after many years of working on improving, I felt like I was back at square one.  I suppose it evolved to be a song with the "is this all that I am" theme.  It is also the title track for my soundcloud playlist.

Lyrics:

I've come to the end of experience
what have I got?
I sit here tired and delirious
as the sun comes up
What I have read here is slipping through
my weary hands

I've read about form and fiction
those words were gold
but instead of causing friction
they left me cold
All I have read here is slipping through
my weary hands

What have I come to if what I read
stands for nothing in the end?
what have I come to if what I understand
stands for nothing in the end?

Decked out in silence
sat down alone
wondering if there's tranquility
in what I know
All I have seen here is slipping through
my weary hands

I spent so many years
getting every answer right
looking for approval from
the left and right
what i have to show for it is slipping through
my weary hands

What have I come to if what I said
stands for nothing in the end?
what have I come to if what I comprehend
stands for nothing in the end?

I tried to sleep last night
but I just tossed and turned
I had so much to think of
pages left to burn
how many more nights like this can I stand?

What have I come to if what I am
stands for something in the end?
what have I come to if what I believe in
stands for something in the end?

I'd say the vocals could be improved, a bit to much reverb for my taste and they sound a little "boxy".
Builds nicely.but I would suggest not just adding instruments as the song progress but also remove things as well. I mainly thinking about the acoustic guitars that goes on and on throughout. Maybe drop it in the "what have I..." section? Or maybe change the strum pattern? Now it gets a bit repetitive.
At 4.20 or so when the backing vox comes in they (or the lead?) sounds a bit distorted. Maybe that is deliberate or something is overloading but in any case I think it would be better without it.
The piano part sounds a bit staccato and "static", at least in the parts where there is no vocals,
But all in all a good song that could be even better with some tweaking, but that is of course my very personal preferences.
Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart

Hi Jezmund,

again i like this track a lot, and i love the lyrics, i can relate to those. I see many people can (that is a lot of plays on soundcloud!)

i will add a like to that, good work this!

those horn sounding keys are great in this, they give a nice build and rise to the song, and some hope regardless of the sad-ish lyrics

yep, i love it, i will add some kitchen karma points on this forum, to my "like" on soundcloud

a great build in this track!!!! it could have some big choirs singing along towards the end....if you want, i am pretty sure, some of the kitchneers and kitchenettes that can sing could perhaps send some vocal tracks to add into a sort of choir for the end... just a thought

sweet this in my opinion!
