@tuff bransch

Absolutely fantastic, and I think the lyrical suggestions that everybody in this thread have made are wonderful.

You said you wanted some cello, would you mind if I put some on there?

@M57 @vincent_stewart @Olbigead @Jurgen @Jim @Zedd

>when we were growing up there was no fear in sight
>we faught itt off as warriors and noble knights
>dinner time again would turn our horses into bikes
>and as we went to bed our allies held the lines

>our families were etched together close and tight
>our mothers were our shoulders and our dads alright
>not yelling at us even if we pranked them all the time
>if childhood screwed us up we should have known by now

>and we grew older set out on a rocky road
>cos things aint always going the way you hope

>and the hillside where we used to play
>now they build up there for those who pay

>when we were growing up we had no hope in sight
>hiding from the ladies and the schoolyard fights
>existential anxiety a future not to bright
>for this lazy youth that cannot get a damn thing right

>when we were moving out there were no hands to hold
>then we were 20 something and were on our own
>it flickers and it flashes as im trying to recall
>a box of burned out matches and a torn/sprayed down wall
>in the ashes of the battles were still standing tall

>and it doesnt even show that its still fighting me
>but if your looking closer you can see it in these eyes
>the superman and brother that im tryin to be
>those feelings you keep hiding and you walk with every day
>the things you never talk about are eating you away

>when you grow older you see in a clearer way
>then you turn colder to sooner or later break

This is it I reckon @tuff bransch, I don't think anything needs to change!  ;D ::thumb::

It very nearly, actually, from an English scansion point of view, is formed entirely from hexameter and tetrameter...so that's another  ::thumb::

Here's a tidied up version so you can post it, etc.:

When we were growing up there was no fear in sight
we fought it off as warriors and noble knights.
Dinner time again would turn our horses into bikes
and as we went to bed our allies held the lines.

Our families were etched together close and tight
our mothers were our shoulders and our dads alright
not yelling at us even if we pranked them all the time
if childhood screwed us up we should have known by now.

And we grew older, set out on a rocky road
'cos things ain't always going the way you hope.

And the hillside where we used to play
now they build up there for those who pay.

When we were growing up we had no hope in sight
hiding from the ladies and the schoolyard fights.
Existential anxiety: a future not too bright
for this lazy youth that cannot get a damn thing right.

When we were moving out there were no hands to hold
then we were twenty something and were on our own.
It flickers and it flashes as I'm trying to recall
a box of burned out matches and a torn sprayed down wall.
In the ashes of the battles we're still standing tall.

And it doesn't even show that it's still fighting me.
But if you're looking closer you can see it in these eyes
the superman and brother that I'm tryin' to be.
Those feelings you keep hiding and you walk with every day.
The things you never talk about are eating you away.

When you grow older you see in a clearer way
then you turn colder to sooner or later break.

And stories just like this unfold
in the house my parents later sold.

Hey @tuff bransch man I only just listened to your 'sketch'. My god what a wonderful singing and guitar playing..
Fantastic to see you're developing this baby here and I love to see all the support and helping hands of our kitcheners that's being shown in this thread.
I compared the (beautiful) initial lyrics with the version @Jim reviewed (great subtle changes here Jim!) and I completely agree with @M57 it's time to record Tuff!!
Looking forward to hear the result!

thank you @Jim for tidying it up! just to copy paste :)

@M57 im going over to recording guitar and vocals at the same time more.
the benefits are greater i think and since i dont want it very polished i can live with not
so separate trax. the feel and timing improves so much.

@Mar T. thank you! great place this!

Fantastic mix here.  You really sound excellent....listen to the vocal at 1:07 and again at 2:48.

Love the guitar tones as well as the playing. What is the guitar?

Seriously good song and performance.

Ah.....dead strings and old cheap wood....perfect. The sound of that guitar is perfect in this tune.

I can't tell you how many tunes I recorded on my old Stella. Thanks for the picture.
