The Middle Way

I am struck in these uncertain and precarious times by how those at the extreme edges of opinion often times seem to have the loudest voices.

There is always a middle way.

V1
Did we see this coming
Did we fear the day
When all things would change
Did you hear the drumming
Did you see the way
That the saints and the sinners
Have seized the day

V2
Did you see them running
Did they speak both ways
Did they call you the strange one
When it's said and done
Who will stay
Between the saints and the sinner
In the unturned stones
There's a middle way

Chorus
Where in the world is all this going
How in the world will all this end
Are we growing the seeds we've sown
Where in the world is all this going
And are we willing to change things

V3
Did you see their guns
Did you hear their praise
Did it make you feel strange
And did it make you wonder
About another way

V4
Well there's a new way coming
And it's clear as day
That all things will change
So when you hear that drumming
Stop and pray
That the saints and the sinners
Will find the middle way

Hola @Leonard Scaper

I like the song, the reflection.

I think you gave it the style and color that the lyric needed, the chorus part it has been very moving, really, otherwise a very elegant and delicate arrangement.  ::thumb:: ::thumb::

I've not hear the track let Lenny @Leonard Scaper ... that's for later.

Just responding to your lyrics ... in the UK we called it "The silent majority". Traditionally most people just wanted to get on in life. get a job, hopefully find someone and fall in love. Maybe children or pets ... get a place of their own. Laugh and smile with friends. Grow old, hopefully in comfort and cherish a life well lived.

Except nowadays, under the prism of social media and the media in general, TV, newspapers, everybody now has to choose a  side, have an opinion, about everything and publicly apologise for anything you do wrong . The world seems a different place but I think the underlying goals of many people haven't really changed.

Maybe one day, ying and yang will come together in a perfect circle. We can always hope for that.

Yes, this is a deep one.
And I try to stay away from these things, because more often an not defiant visions create new heated arguments.

In NL the middle has always been our strength.
I personally have thought a two party system has a tendency to divide instead of unite.
A split that is magnified by the Facebook side of our society.

What we need is your vision, your song, to bring values of common sense and human interaction back again. In NL too.
Needless to say I wish I had written it.
An extremely nice piece of work @Leonard Scaper
Kind regards, Gus

Thoughtful, intelligent and actually quite jarring... I really like the main vocal - it is nicely recorded. The chorus is hypnotic and you use the delay cleverly. I like the way it layers and actually - to me - is on the verge of being out of control - which I suppose is a perfect metaphor for where we find ourselves...

Nice start to the day - thanks.

Thanks to all who have listened. I have to share that this song went through a difficult birth. In the months following my dance with COVID this spring I have found myself ever more contemplative. This has....set me back a bit. I honestly was not sure that there would be another song .

But this one came and I knew from the start that it would be filled with some tension. I worked to create that tension and then had to back away from it as I massaged the production. Thanks to @Zedd and @Chris Spruit , both of whom were kind enough to reach out and rattle my cage enough to help me bring this song into the world.

@Mora Amaro La Loba .....thank you for seeing the colors of this song.

@MrBouzouki ..........your perspective definitely resonates. The yin and the yang already do form that perfect circle.......we just can't sometimes feel that circle through all of he distractions around us.

@LePlongeur .....you're right about defiant visions. The middle way can be quite a balancing act if we let ourselves get distracted.

@Tolo ........I'm really pleased that you picked up on the tension of this song. I know that it is not really an easy song to listen to. Thanks for doing so.   8)

Great song @Leonard Scaper . Very meaningful lyrics. We all wish  we could believe in a positive outcome.
Today I'm only one day older. Do you think my hair's turned grey?

We all wish  we could believe in a positive outcome.

We have to make those wished into intentions, right?

Thanks for listening to this one @redmando ....I'm glad it resonated with you.  :)

Good song Leonard. Your recording/mixing sounds very well done and the arrangement is interesting. A middle way is indeed necessary, now and usually.
You can't go back. You can't stand still. If the thunder don't get you. The lightning will.
