Hello,
this is a collaboration between me and a friend at home. We had this approach to music that we were only gonna focus on our internal battles and trying to use that as our inspiration. We found this speech that you can hear throughout the song from a video interview with 3 different people with varying psychotic disorders. We choose the girl who heard voices from the anti-christ and heaven because of the abstract nature of it all and the tone it was setting for the song. The title is qoute from psychoanalyst Joseph Campbell

Hope you enjoy!

Here are the lyrics

Shrouded
Stranded in time
Essence
Feeding the blind
Black out
Fog in the mind
Fearless
Fearless and alive

Sinking
Straight through the floor
Thinking
Caught at the core
Mother
Please take me home
Helpless
Bury me at the shore

Voices
Bringing me to the edge
Killing
All of that was left
Satan
My only on true friend
Heaven
The place I can connect

A sea of ice
Heads start rise to the surface at last
Staring at the clouds
Freedom is a feeling that defines our lives
Trapped in our minds
Looking right at out subsiding lives
Closing the gap
Closing the gap try and open your eyes

:repeat from 1st:

Great work! Impressive songwriting. May be the only advice I could offer for  mixing is that some esses sound a bit sharp, specially in the first part...

This is an intriguing song and very well done, @Tommy Blixt  :) IMO, you have done an amazing job, working with such a difficult topic  ::thumb::

I have written a few songs with the same theme, as I have a close family member that suffers with mental illness  :(
I love the title and have thought about it in that way as well  :o The spoken stuff really brings the song into someones real life experience, which is excellent  ::heart::
The vocals are great...so much emotion coming through. I think you've nailed the mood of this subject with your musical interpretation very well :)  Excellent job  ::thumb::

Here are a couple of songs, that I've written, with the same topic but from the point of view of a loved one observing

thank you for the kind words.

I have also my own personal experiences with mental illness. I found this song was sort of a documentation of my own life in a way after I had wrote it. Funny really.

I listend to your songs! They were really great. I have always been intrigued by your songwriting @CrystalSuzy . It takes me places

With love

Quite disturbing with those voice samples, punched home because it is all so real. The song is a pretty clever composition though and I really like it when the guitar breaks out and it all builds up there.
For a novel with a musical theme, 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is my first novel.

Almost missed this one and I'm glad I did not. This is an excellent piece that takes on some serious stuff. Your vocals really make this work as I can hear the struggle in your voice.

I think the voice samples work perfectly to bring the feeling of the song into focus and I am seriously impressed with the overall production.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Love it. The overall work is amazing and your voice and interpretation is great. Listened to it several times. Will you make a video of this one? This song seems to be born to make one.

Only for my taste (and not because something is not good) I would add a lower backing vocal in the second verses (Sinking...shore) and from the middlle of the third (Satan...connect). This only because the third time I was listening I started singing a lower vocal as if I needed more dynamic.

And always for my taste I would add a real drums-set from "voices...bringing". To grow in intensity. It's not a suggestion, it's what I would do if it were my song (I'm not a good critician and writing in english is not easy for me, this is the only way I can give a meaningful feedback).

May I ask you one question? I love this style, which bands or artists inspired you most on this song?

I love the intro with that voice of talk not sung.
I like the work of synth lo-fi mixed in the clarity of the guitar, it's fantastic. vocals also very nice.
great song. Really.
Congratulations.

Sure, so the main inspiration for this song is not a band or artist really, I would say its more derived from deeper than surface level emotions. Songs like this are made from my own head in a sense. It's hard to pinpoint one outside source because there are too many. Not only bands but also the world around me.

Hope that answers it somewhat for you!

I see. It is also difficult for me to understand which artists have influenced me the most. Too many years spent listening to music :)
