The Raven
on: March 26, 2020, 21:30:04
Here's another track from my new CD "The Winterland" (free download on Bandcamp). This is one of a few tracks on the CD not written on and recorded on mountain dulcimer. https://soundcloud.com/steve-gray-songwriting/the-raven

Yes, I tracked her out of town, with you flying overhead
The hunter now becomes the prey
Now I havenít far to go until I reach the end
Let me keep my eyes to see the way

When Ovid blacked the raven, sitting in a tree
His music died, no funeral song
Youíll not have your breakfast, you filthy ragged bird
You shanít mock the journey that Iím on

An unkindness of ravens, never better said
As you watch and wait for me at deathís door
A portent of the end, carrion by the road
Leave me now and go, for evermore
Today I'm only one day older. Do you think my hair's turned grey?

Interesting production. For me the vocal presentation is a bit disconcerting.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

It's completely out of my league. @redmando
But this is one of the big advantages of threads like these. Makes me listen to music I'd normally not get in touch with.

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone  and @Leonard Scaper

I have to look up what Disconcerting means, but i think I know vaguely what it's about.
I would welcome more in this vein.
Kind regards, Gus

- thanks @Leonard Scaper . Yes, it is meant to be disconcerting. Try it with headphones to get inside the traveller's head as the Raven threatens from above.
