This song is two minutes late.

Hi guys,

After a while of not being able to do much, I appear to be catching up. Here is another song. Let's jst hope it is still in time for whatever conspiracy.

Curious to hear what you think of it. It features guitar, a bowed standup, a bass guitar, replicas of the DX7 and the Fairlight CMV, the Buchla Easel, and a Ziggy tap guitar. Here is the link.

I hope it will please you :)

Super track, intruiging lyrics - a reflection on the times that seem to get faster and faster.
Love the guitar work - sounds very fresh.
Only tip I can offer (as I did on SC) - is that the vocals in the last part sound a bit hidden, or muffled - may be intentional, but some EQ-ing and panning of the vocals might them stand out a bit more from the rest.

Buchla Easel?! Cool! Can you send a picture?

It's the Arturia replica, so it is digital. I fear that the original analogue device is way beyond my budget. It is a cumbersome machine to work with, but I LOVE the sounds.

Hey @Pleudoniem , and this all is because you were 2 minutes too late for the grocery store? ;-)
Love the title of your post ;-)
Very creative piece of work, you must have had lots of fun creating it!
I can easily see an animation movie with strip characters performing the story..
The guitars sound a bit high gain, don't bite through the mix enough imo, not sure if that was your intention. Compare it to the piano sound that comes in so bright. Should you want to thicken the sound I'd try some saturation, or even doubling guitar parts..
All in all a nice journey to listen to, well done man!
Cheers!
Mar T.

@Mar T. I tried out saturation as you suggested, if only because I'd never tried this before. Thanks for the tip. It's very useful. I will definitely make use of it in future mixes. As for this mix, I think I like it better the way it is. The guitar feels best for the atmosphere, not to bite through the mix, it just doesn't seem to work well when it does. I quite like the contrast to the piano. As a matter of fact, I had a less bright one earlier on in the process, but this one had a better sparkle.

An easel, always better than holding your painting yourself. Smiley

I'll be listening a couple of times to get into it, but at first sight I like it a lot! @Pleudoniem
And like @Mar T. , I think the title of the post is stellar!
Kind regards, Gus

I like the whirring sound you've placed in the middle of the mix in the intro. In places it's reminiscent of Bowie, and Be Bop Deluxe (your voice especially).

I don't generally like 'toppy' guitar too much but it really works on this track. It's there but not there if you get my drift.
You have a real gift for grooves :-)

Nice one

@MrBouzouki That is exactly my point, although I understand what @Mar T. is aiming at as well. I think it's a preference thing. Glad you like it :)
@Rewboat  I didn't know Be Bop Deluxe. They sound like an odd mix between Roxy Music, Bowie and Gentle Giant. Thank you for the tip :)
@LePlongeur So for you, it was just in time. Phew, I am relieved :)

It's absolutely about personal preference @Pleudoniem and @MrBouzouki , there's no right nor wrong. The kitchen can only provide 'pointers' (matter of subjective 'taste'). Sometimes they surprise you and make you rethink decisions in your song, sometimes they reassure you a decision you made in the song was well thought out. It's up to the creator what to do with them.
Again, fantastic track man, chapeau!

This has a high alternative content
Sometimes it is pure counterculture in itself
And sometimes it's something theatrical and highly oniric
In short, it is a job with an interesting intellectual rebellion
Congratulations  ::thumb::

Hi @Pleudoniem

I liked very much the intro, it reminded me of the introduction to one action film!!!

I also liked the change of ambient that appears at approx. in the minute 2'10, making lighter your personal perception of a situation that I think we have suffered many of us once.

The style of the base is dark, obsessive, giving the song the desired style of something hypnotic that engulfs things as a black hole does, like an absurd nightmare that is lived with astonishment.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

@Marcus Nalgaber Wow, what a nice way of summarising what you think of the song. Rebellion, yes, possibly, but also a way to mock a particular mindset.
@Mora Amaro La Loba Very true, but the persona in the lyric does have his way of exaggerating what he is experiencing. It is just fun to toy with what he could be thinking.

Thank you both for your comments :)
