Very cool tune! It's got that Steely Dan thing working.  ;) Good set of lyrics and an excellent way to send them up.

Mix-wise....to my ears the drums are a bit too present, particularly the snare.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

Thanks @Leonard Scaper  - Steely Dan sure is a positive vibe that I would never evade! Mixwise I can & will adjust the drums and snare for a next version.

Hi @oorlab

I'm really happy how this turned out Dick  ;D

@Leonard Scaper Now that you mention it I do hear the Steely Dan groove going. I think you're right about the drums too.

Well like Steely Dan meets Stevie Wonder with that funky guitar riff! It's a really interesting song and quite a unique sound, despite the comparisons to the past. The only thing I would suggest, if you are still working on it, would be to beef up the chorus vocals, maybe with more layers/harmonies to bring it out with more punch. But yeah, all very good, well done from me!
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Great stuff @oorlab and @smajor - really good collaboration.

As others have said - drums (for me the cymbals) are mixed a little too loud but other than that, this was a great listen and very catchy.

I also hear Talking Heads, Stevie Wonder (the drums - Superstition like) and some Steely Dan - but mainly I hear Oorlab!

cheers

Hey @oorlab and @smajor , thanks for sharing this collaboration with us!

I love the mixture of the synth and the more raw classic sound, sounds nice! Imo the chorus doesn't make the difference yes (musically), I know it's impossible in this stage, but a different chord progression there would've helped to set it more apart from the verses. But that's just my 2cts, overall this was a very enjoyable listen, well done guys!!

Cheers,
:mart:

@Roberto Cianchetta  - that is a nice offer! Sure, I'd be very interested to hear your mix.
Will read the books you mentioned.

@oorlab , it would be nice! I never mixed music of other people before. I would need all tracks separately and already "aligned", so that I could just think of the mixing itself. And I would need to know in which direction you think of this song.

I started with the Mike Senior's book: "Mixing Secrets" ( I think it is the best ), but the other two are also marvellous.

Cheers,

Roberto
