Waiting for the rain (sparse ballad)
on: May 04, 2020, 21:25:57

and for those on SC:

The opening line and the main chords are from many years ago, and last week after a long period of dry weather, there was a reason to finnish it with proper lyrics and extra chords.

Waiting for the rain,
waiting for the moist to come.
See what clouds can bring
to this dry dust in the sun.

What now
Can be
done

Watch the garden grow,
you can see it
when you take your time.
Just to ease your mind,
try to see what you can find.

Keen to see my friends
to chill & talk & think ahead.

Now what
can be
done.

I seek a friendly voice
soothing presence
to feel at home.

Waiting for the rain
I can almost smell it
in the air.

I did respect your idea to have one version dedicated to someone and the other to listen en enjoy by the rest.
I like riddles like that.
And, being a sucker for simplicity, currently I’m reading the book: ‘how music works’, by @oorlab
The music almost moved me to tears.
Love it to pieces and I will certainly be back to enjoy ‘our’ version again.
Kind regards, Gus

Beautiful song!!
If you dig it, do it. If you dig it a lot, do it twice (Jim Croce).

@oorlab A really lovely mix. When the piano chords come in, it really completes the sound, then the harmonies compliment that stereo image.

You've got an art for putting together a well balanced mix, you've still got the raw elements in the centre that retain its closeness.

It's a beautiful song too, lovely lyrics... rain has so many connotations and symbols attached to it.

Very beautiful song lyrics melody and performance. It reminds me of something  Marc Bolan would have written.

Hi @oorlab

It is a wonderful song, I like the lyrics a lot, veery poetic and descriptive. The guitar is also very nice, sweet and the calm of the melody accompanies perfectly the story.

It's also beautiful to play them with al little time difference together, very special effects.
Beautiful song , wow,
Tomorrow I will go to my garden and I will look differently, see if I can take the time to watch something grow, maybe if I take enough time, it's raining a lot here, so things grow very quick, al these young plants, must be possible to watch them grow.
What a beautiful song, really, so soft and wonderful. And I saw a beautiful rosemary in your video, also a beautiful video..
Thank you for your music!

There`s always a natural unforced beauty about your music @oorlab  and this is a fine example; I like the melody, simple ( for these times) unprocessed vocal and harmonies and crystal clear guitar .
Could be the joy of nature lyrics combined with the pastoral feel; your song reminds me of the best work by the Incredible String Band .

I really love the guitar, and the mood of it all. The melody is aptly "keen", but I didn't really get the intent of this poetic lyric.
With that said, the chorus is a great punctuation in this piece of music.
Kudos,

Beautiful song and lyrics @oorlab ... sparse... indeed....and there  lies the charm... in the video as well... the sparseness evokes calm... while waiting for the rain.

I really love the little bit of breathy wind at the end.... such a subtle way to bring the sentiment to a close.
