We Lit The Fuse

I guess the best way to introduce myself is to present one of the many autobiographical songs that I have written.

This one almost failed to make it to the the recording stage.  For such a long time, it remained as a classical guitar sketch/composition on my mobile phone.  I did however return to listen from time to time until I decided it couldn’t be abandoned.

“Did we both forget to care?  Couldn’t stop the last explosion and so we lit the fuse.”

I guess this one is finished though I may revisit the vocal on a day that the cars aren’t speeding past my window.

We lit the fuse

We were lovers for a while.
I didn't make you smile,
I brought the rainfall.
You were meant to be the last.
I'd say it happened way too fast;
perhaps, our downfall.

Did we both forget to care?
Couldn't stop the last explosion
and still, we lit the fuse.

There were fireworks in the sky.
We said the flames would never die
but that takes wisdom.

We caught a ride up to the moon.
Our star was fading way to soon
and now, we're embers.

Did we both forget to care?,
Couldn't stop the last exploion.
and still, we lit the fuse?

May the planets still allign.
I'll be yours and you'll be mine.
May the light that shines above
Favour love.

Did we both forget to care?
Couldn't stop the last explosion
and still, we lit the fuse.

I really like your vocal treatment on this one.  You did a really good job adding warmth and presence to a lighter, breathy vocal which is tough to do, IMO.  I would consider a low pass filter at around 9k to cut down on some of the essing in it, but thats it.  You really did a great job producing this

Good song.....love the guitars as well as your vocal performance.

Good call by @Knate on the sss's, though. A little de-essing would fix that. Lot's of folks miss that step.

Thank you for your reviews @Knate and @Leonard Scaper. I should work to learn a little more about vocal processing.  It's the most important part of any song yet I do neglect this a little.  I'm so pleased to receive your positive feedback.

WoW what a great song and composition you have done @Cool Hand  The instrumentation is very laid-back with some great harmonics. The lyrics are well done and your song expresses them very well.
well done - thanks for sharing  :ok: :ok: :ok: :ok: :ok:

What a lovely song @Cool Hand
What English and Spanish people feel with the rougher edges of some of my lyrics, I feel with clearly deep felt (feld?) auto biographic stuff.

It’s almost as if I peep into a situation where I have not been invited.

Having said that, I love the song and what you made of it. Really nice piece of work. Do I hear a tele? If not I hope you will tell me what guitar you have used for this sparkly song.

Keep them coming, please.
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur,

You do indeed hear a tele. The coolest electric guitar ever made in my opinion 😀 And yes, the emotion of the song is deep felt and from an autobiographical place. It is  a tale of heartbreak Which has I hope has resulted in a beautiful composition.  Thank you so much for listening and commenting.

Paul

@Krysoe,

Thank you so much for your very kind comments.
