What Is Ours (alternative indie-folk)

Hello folks i'm new here,
I recorded this song in 2011 and would like to have your feedback.

https://soundcloud.com/nofrontiers/what-is-ours

I've been riding down the road for long time now
And I've been looking for a sense with inner eyes
to change reality and for all dreams to come true,
i have been waiting, living, making what else i could

I've been feeling wasted, happy, rested up and down
I've been hiding and correcting with my inner time
to change reality and for all dreams to come true
i have been loving, hating, giving and forgiving too...

what is yours and what is mine, and what is ours?
we are one and so is this busy life
the direction of perfection only can be found
in alignment with our heart and mind. Oh yeah!

The sun is moving out to start a brand new day
we have been pushing on our bikes to see the ray
to touch the wind, the morning sky and trees
we have been swimming like the birds on clouds of lights

what is yours and what is mine, and what is ours?
we are one and so is this busy life
the direction of perfection only can be found
in alignment with our heart and mind.
in alignment with our heart and mind. Oh yeah!

Unseal me, get me to feel me,
hold me into divine , don't let me alone
Unseal me, unlock to feel me
hold me into divine , don't let me alone

In alignment with our heart and mind.

That's a nice vibe.  Like the chorus and the lead guitar.  Really like the vocals.  The rhythm guitar drives it along nicely, but I am 100% keen on the sound of it, particularly when missing the 2nd guitar. How is recorded, is it a pickup?

All said its a lovely upbeat song and very well performed!!

Note: Listening to your 'All That is' your rhythm guitar sounds fab.  Now you probably going to tell me it is recorded using the same method!

Thanks a lot David, much appreciated.
I somehow often think my voice is not 'too good' yet then convince myself that even Billy Corgan hasn't got the most accurate vocal tones.
I sometimes receive 'wowed' feedback even on more catchy strong songs, but need to learn to stabilise the vocal style to penetrate deeper the audience.

In regards to how we recorded :

One Guitar with 2 Track playing a bit of bassy tones and the final solo notes.
I did not have electric guitar with me that period.

Since you commented : All that is https://soundcloud.com/nofrontiers/all-that-is
Recorded in the same way on the same day.

Rode Microphones
1 Guitar and my friend who has a sound engineer hobby (well he studied).

I'm doing a 10 days session in the upcoming month, I have about 7-8 songs written that need to get on production.
So if in about 3 hours we recorded 4-5 songs I hope 10 days may give me more solid material hey?!?

Thanks a lot mate!
You really like the voice hey?

hey @aivanb ....this sounds good. I really like the energy that you put into the song.

Welcome to The Kitchen. Take a look around and I'm sure you'll find some music that inspires you here. Let folks know that you stop by and listen to their stuff and they will definitely repay in kind.

Thank you for the welcome Leonard, and the words in regards.
I'm glad to be a new member here, just found out today via a youtube that this community exists!
(So i was looking for an angle to introduce me but somehow could not find it)
Is there a "Introduce yourself" section somewhere? :)
I already listened to few songs and authors and highly appreciated it !
Surely be hanging around here for some time and repay the commentaries!

ps. i finally found the ME section and introduced myself!

Welcome @aivanb
I listened to your first song.
And I like openness of the sound and the drive of the tune in general.

What you will see eventually, is that we are story tellers, both eager to mash our words into the melody.
I try to reduce the amount of words in every sentence, and I advice you to consider trying that too. It lets the text/the message breath a little.

If you do that, you will find that your songs are easier to listen to and your pronouciation will gradually be better. Simply because there’s more time.
And the playing/singing will be more fun. And things that are fun give better results.

I wouldn’t be too insecure about tonal stability.
Develop your strong points and to control your breathing a bit better. You will notice that there will be audible results in a couple of months.

I think that everybody here reads the introduction made in the ‘ME’ section (homepage; you’ll find it quite easily), so that’s well invested time.

Kind regards, Gus

Wow six years ago! Man, you have a slow internet connection - you should be able to upload songs a lot quicker these days!  ;D

Actually, it is quite a timeless characterful song and it doesn't matter that time has passed. Got a bit of a Latin Club vibe to it and the rhythm guitar really keeps it moving. Some nice guitar interplay too. Just an enjoyable track really.
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Thanks a lot GUS

True what you say about trying to reduce amount of words to gain effectiveness..
It was my brother who once told me: "aim to get better pronunciation/communication" and reducing words will help.

In the 60's many songs used to have strong and long lyrics, then gradually music became more 'synthetic'...
I like a mix of both but now lean more towards cutting it to the essential...

Haha yes it wasn't too bad back Internet but I had a MACBOOK that white heavy thing today i'm on a PRO and it feels yard faster lol
I still compose and as mentioned in my intro, the producer (my friend) back then will pay me a visit so we can make a more in depth registration 6 years after!

I'm considering to re-record even this songs but not sure as i have plenty of fresh material.
Merci

Thanks Leonard I'll keep you tuned!
I'm wondering from your experience what would be best to do in the release.
I consider to have a "single" come out and then release the other songs bits by bits...

I have done quite a few album type projects over they years where I wrote songs that were meant to be played together. I always like that format but then I'm of the generation that listened to vinyl albums. There is something special still about listening to a collection of songs that are meant to be heard in that cohesive way.

But these days folks seem to be like to hear singles. Put your songs out as they are finished and then put them out when they are all done as an "album" maybe. You'll get a lot of good constructive criticism here, especially if you  ask for it. That can really help you improve from song to song.

Makes sense , i too like coehesive albums as a whole. One single would probably just be enough (like in the old days) and to build up interest.
Your saying I could post here each song once all i finished with the recording to have quality feedback?

Hey @aivanb ... great vibe and movement to this... Chorus is catchy and I love the effect you have on the vocal on the first "Oh Yeah" (and elsewhere) not sure what that is or if it's just me ears!!

Welcome to the Kitchen! Look forward to hearing more of your music.. I expect I'll like it a lot!

Nice one @aivanb ! I, as usual, have nothing intelligent to add to this conversation but I do like the song. Good show!
