Yes, I still write music. Here is Coze.
on: June 14, 2020, 03:41:12
Hi guys,

Apart from a couple of comments, I'd been silent for some time. Things on my mind, but nothing serous though. So, here is the latest, because Things need to be said and played.

The song is called coze. I am not sure if Americans know the word, but they'll inform me, I guess.

Here are the words to the song:

Coze

Talk lies bare
On an underground sheet
Wrinkled in ways
That makes it
Stubborn to read

With touch dying down
In this surplus of sound
The clicks from the keys
Of the brazen abound

Which cautions
Not to answer them
Who knows I might turn
Into one of them

Incoming news
The cacophonous coze
The jibber jabber
In collusion with those
That have entered before
And are echoing still
That have entered before
And are echoing still

As the pavement deflects
Bouncing bickering noise
The flags on the wall
Show
The tiny and tall

In comes a wave
Of shows and parades
The roar of the mice
Often rashly displayed
But I’m looking for lights
Moving down in the shades
The temperate ones
The reticent ones

And caution
Not to step on them
Imagine your cheek
To be one of them

I wonder if 'Coze' has something in common with 'causeren'. An almost extinct word in Dutch, but still in De Dikke Van Dale.
The slightest bit of blahblah-ishness that comes with causeren, is cleverly avoided in the lyrics.
I like it @Pleudoniem .
Why keep us waiting again, please plod your next one !
Kind regards, gus

Interesting tune @Pleudoniem .I love the way you are ripping into some of those somewhat dissonant guitar chords. Actually I am feeling your mood in the production....things on your mind, eh?

Listening again right away. This song is infectious, Really fine guitar work.

I figured out what a "coze" is pretty quickly from the lyrics. Google confirmed my conclusion.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Hola @Pleudoniem

After listening to your song I think that you are at a very important moment in your life, the music that accompanies your lyrics is special, it marks intention ... I really liked the musical arrangement and the atmospheres that it creates around the words, so descriptive mentally and emotionally.
I really liked this line
"The roar of the mice
Often rashly displayed. "
It's great. Congratulations, it is a superb song.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

@Mora Amaro La Loba So it wasn't a permanent leave, was it? Nice to have you back :)

If that is what the song conveys to you, then it strikes something, which is good. Thank you :) But I am usually a bit careful to avoid similating the author with the character he creates. You might just as well be right though.

@Leonard Scaper Some are maj11 chords, which are not exactly dissonant, but they sound very jazzy without distortion, but they bite when you add some. Some are maj7. Also quite a bit of melodic minor scales. I quite like them.

@LePlongeur The VanDale is close. There is a lot of blah-ishness in the lyric, but not in blah-ed words.

I`m a fan of the  wonderful snotty sound your songs have @Pleudonium  :ok: .

Here it accompanies the highly topical lyric excellently. Or was it the other way around? :D

Yes....I quite like them as well. You'll have to forgive my use of "dissonant". Those chords work beautifully as played.

Of course, I could not play a maj11 chord if you payed me to.....even though I am sure I have stumbled across one on the fretboard a time or two.   ;)

Like Leonard said, this is very infectious. Heavy, poetic, and keeps the interest.
A fun listen...........and I have never heard the phrase, "Jibber - Jabber" in a song before, just recently, posting my own tune, here on the board. Any influence here, or merely a cosmic coincidence?
Cool.............

@IronKnee I'm afraid that was a coincidence. The word just had a rhythm that was quite right for the purpose. Which song was that?

@Mo Snotty? Hmm... Interesting qualification. Can you explain?

@Leonard Scaper The word dissonant is quite resonant to me. Nothing against dissonant chords, no offense taken at all. The maj11 isn't very difficult, and asking you to play one if I paid you would be an expensive mistake. A Dm/Dmaj11 looks like this: 5-5-5-6-6-5, which alternates nicely with 6.5.5.6.6.5. A full maj11 = 5.5.5.6.7.5

@Pleudoniem if you try next time don't search for a bad meaning of the words at first, sure i'll explain.

Maybe  the word had other meaning  in different languages but in my native language this means roughly:

It sounds a bit cheeky in the sense of untamed and self-confident.
Someone who does snotty things doesn't care about conventions and doesn't even try to appear sweet. It's a kind of style to deliver..

Where 'snotty' is a  non-convention term itself, used music related the meaning is positive.
Sorry for misunderstanding, in case.

@Mo  Don't worry. I didn't think you meant anything negative by it, because I don't know you as a negative character at all. I was just curious what you meant, as in English it can have a variety of meanings, so I was just wondering  ;)

What you describe could be quite apt, indeed.

As in double snotty @Mo and @Pleudoniem
Enough reason to like it twice as much.
