You Could Have Been Cinderella
on: May 16, 2020, 00:41:52
Thirty years ago the opening lines to this song began an attempt to write a country song...after a few corny throways and a realisation that`s not my thing I shelved the lines, resurrected here in something I`m much happier with.

You Could Have Been Cinderella

you could have been Cinderella
I could have found your shoe
or Helen trapped in Troy I`d build a horse
to rescue you

I could have been Mr Darcy
saved by your better self
or losing Cleopatra Dick losing Liz
to a bottle on the shelf

it wasn`t like that
pick a love story from a hat
it was better than that

halfway along a tightrope
between the sun and moon
just like Hollywood our hands touching
not a moment too soon

we learned the star alphabet
your hearts secret I read
that`s how we met

you could have been Cinderella
I could have found your shoe
would that feel like holding hands
between the sun and moon

we learned the star alphabet
my hearts secret you read
pick a love story from a hat
it was better than that

Hey there Robertkc.............I like the melody and lyric, as they are pretty good. The music is good, as well.
Your singing is not the best I've heard, but I can honestly say that there aren't many who really, really can ;-)
Good songwriting, man...........keep it going!

@robertkc
Your song fits perfectly with those days, nothing better than becoming a prince, a warrior, someone climbing mountains to rescue a princess thqt has lost her shoe to feel good. A very romantic song full of something more.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

Me really like the auhentic sensitivity in your voice! The lyric and sound of the song is soo romantic :D.

I like most that you choosed a CROCS display  at your song picture!!  ;D Thats such nicely subtile hint of your 'Cinderalla'. Good job  :ok: :ok: :ok:

@robertkc  ::thumb::

A song with a very nostalgic interior and sometimes close to the music of the romantic troubadours of the middle ages
Congratulations!!  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Hi @robertkc I like the story and lyrics, cleverly done. The instrumentation and arrangement is very professional  and fits the song perfectly. The sensitivity of your vocal also works well and gives the song a nostalgic feel to it. Thanks for sharing

I distinctly remember having posted after listening to your song @robertkc
And this morning I found by accident a post about Charlize Theron speaking Afrikaans, directed @Bill from November Sound in a complete different thread. Could be the early stages of Alzheimer’s, could be the sun, a black back ground and purple letters of the smallest possible kind or maybe some missing volts in the system here.
Next Friday somebody is coming at 12 to sort out which is what.

If we ever find my first post, we’ll see that I quite liked it, and that I am opposed to belting and curbing so that I actually like the somewhat soft/vulnerable  approach better than all the Led Zeppelin’s combined.
Keep them coming please!
Next time I double check where I post!
Kind regards, Gus

I agree there`s a nostalgia to this @Polestar; thanks for you kind comments.

@LePlongeur ... well I got lost in that other thread too. Thanks for letting me know you gave this a listen and I appreciate your nod to my vocal style ( I get "belting", but "curbing" in musical terms?).

I am not sure @robertkc if they would OK large portions to be copy/pasted in da Kitchen.
But it is a whining sound I was aiming at.
Dissatisfied and rather whining than do something about it. Sometimes expecting us (the public) to solve their situation.

A very good description? I think you'll find it here:
https://completevocal.institute/complete-vocal-technique/

They (the curbers/moaners) wouldn't let their apple tree to be pruned by someone/somebody (I never know which of the two) who doesn't have a clue. Why do they expect me to be a psychiatrist when I'm not qualified? Quit moaning and do something to better their own situation, that's what I say.
Not you Robert, I hope you understand, but the guy curbing. And that's why I dislike curbing.

Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur  that`s an in depth site , and now that I`ve listened to the samples ( the "rattles" and "grunts" had me in stitches!) I get your meaning  and hope the guy curbing does too.

Thanks for the likes @Goatrelated
