Back coupling while recording?
on: January 09, 2019, 14:52:53
Hello :) After a longer break i am trying again to record a song. But since I have a new laptop, i guess it has some back coupling or I am not sure what it is. It happens (noise and distortion) while I record and also when I listen to the recording. But not all the time, just sometimes. I work with an HP laptop, with an AG06 Yamaha Interface and a Rode Mic. And I have my headphones plugged in the interface. I work in Reaper.

So I guess, maybe it is the latency? It also skipped one time while I recorded, which is not very convenient. I hope for help. I asked google for help and tried some settings, but still the same. With my old laptop everything worked well.

Greetings, Katze  :loveit:

Hey Katze. With noises like that it does not sound like latency to me. It sounds more like a possible sample rate problem. If you have a recording at 44.1 Hz and you are listening at 48 Hz...something along those lines.

Or perhaps your interface is not communicating quite right with the computer. Check to make sure that your laptop is set to "no sounds" so that the interface is the only thing you rely on for playback.

If all was working well before then it must have something to do with the interface/computer communication.

When in doubt, re-install your DAW and make sure all drivers are up to date for the interface.

A bit of research tells me that I may be wrong about latency. Here is some info about DPC  (Deferred Procedure Call) latency that could prove helpful. There are links for a latency checker.

Thanks @Leonard Scaper !! best advice!!! The driver for the interface....it was not installed yet. Well...I installed it and it seems to work. If it occurs again, I will write again. Thanks so much!!  :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom:

@Dutchbeat well, I tried to record! but this time , the result was awful. Its been a while since I recorded and I have to get back to it and think about all the steps. But yeah, there is a new song and I have to practice with it my recording again.

there are actually many songs, i wanted to record with Kevin from Recording Europe. But my guitar was not as good for the recording so he said, i need to practice more first. Otherwise it is not a good level. Well, I am pretty sad, as I thought I would be able to put my songs on an album soon....

well thats it for right now.  Thanks for asking :)  :ok: ;D
