The idea behind a prompt writing is simple. The Kitcheners who have joined, write one or more lyrics or song/songs based or inspired on the prompt.

The prompt will be valid for two weeks. Each period will be hosted by a temporary host. During the last week of the two weeks' period, the host invites the next host and asks to post a new prompt. Please use PM, so that a graceful refusal is always possible in case it's not convenient for some reason.

A prompt can be most anything; we take it upon us to be considerate with the choice of the prompt.

When a prompt is posted, we can have complete freedom to react to that prompt.
At your choice:
Draft
Finished lyrics
Based on a free form
Based on rules that define a certain type of poetry
Without music, i.e. text only
With music as a complete song
Text only at first with music added later
Write a series of lyrics or complete songs to highlight different aspects of one prompt
Or just one
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

The idea is, that all prompts and postings in relation to that, will be posted here, so a series of ideas is constantly in the making.

Right now we have:
@DonMar
@Mo
@Dutchbeat
@Bill from November Sound
And myself @LePlongeur

And we would welcome any Kitchener (or Kitchener to be) to join.
Let keep it light and playful and an invitation to kick some ideas around.
Let's not over analyze and let's promise not to hug it to death.

We are story tellers, right? It's not autobiographical unless the writer thinks that this is important. In that case he or she will indicate it.

It is definitely NOT a challenge
So now, please enjoy!!!
Kind regards, Gus

The first prompt is called:
'Mystery caller'.

https://postimg.cc/DWbVMqKF

This prompt will be valid until the 15th of August 2020. In the week before this date, I will PM a Kitchener and invite him or her to think up and post the 2nd prompt. He or she will be the 2nd host, the host for the next period.

I will give no further explanation about the current prompt, other than I must write about it too. And I will. With pleasure!
Enjoy!

Kind regards, Gus

Because it called  'prompt' ;D

My friend, the tall dutch
He is a bragger!
He always does to much
Even touring with old Jagger

He thinks, he is the nicest,
And dates with him are pricless.
Today showed me his list of calling
Just 'cause he love to see me falling

Busy busy is this man
Just took him a black van
To meet Jollie in her appartment.
I bet they'll  talk about enlargment.

It last a quite long while
Until look behind his pretty smile.
He always fears to be alone!
If he won''t soon charge his phone.

An so this orange super rocket
Forget his cable in my power socket.
What he isn't know for real
That all this is just fucking digital :)

One of the mysterious outsiders called in.
So, yes..., I finished my ‘mystery caller’ lyrics, but I thought it a subtle touch not to post it yet.
To keep the co-prompt writers curious.
Just like I am curious to know what the others have written.
Tonight at 6, I am going to try and put it to music.
Kind regards, Gus

O, but I thought it a subtle touch not to post it yet.

Thought, it wasn't good idea  to post the entry prompt either. Sorry for that, probably it distract from own ideas, I'll hold back next time and post it after 3-4 days.

I’m afraid my explanation was not clear enough @Mo
The temporary host (me for this first period) has a real obligation. To think about what will be posted. It must not be too brash, risqué or provoking.
A little bit of all of that is OK, but it must not go beyond a line where fellow Kitcheners are offended.

The temporary host has another role/obligation as well, as he or she knows what or wherefore the prompt is posted. My posting something early, could easily spoil the fun of the other Kitcheners

The Kitcheners who post something in relation (however far fetched) to the prompt may exercise their poetic license fully. As you actually did. I had so much fun reading your mystery guest, that I seriously wonder why you apologized and have second thoughts. I am very glad you posted it.

I really hope I have laid you doubts to rest. Don’t worry, you’re fine. And so is your mystery guest.

Light and playfully. We all have to learn this game. And I like it a lot so far. I hope that goes for you too.
Kind regards, Gus

I had to smile when I read the prompt, @LePlongeur.   :) For the past 2 years, I’ve been getting regular notifications on my iPhone that someone in Tilberg is trying to call me. I’ve never answered because I don’t know anyone in Tilberg. At first, I called the number once or twice, but no answer. I presume the calls have been from a scammer. (Last week I remembered that it’s possible to block callers on my cell phone, so I blocked the Tilburg number.)

But the ‘Mystery Caller’ prompt triggered my overly vivid  imagination. And here’s the silly result.  :D

Lyric only.
Draft (I might tweak it over the next couple of days; perhaps shorten it.).
Maybe music later if anyone would like to tackle it. Could be male or female vocals (just change ‘he’ to ‘she’).

@Mo
@Dutchbeat
@Bill from November Sound

Here's my...

Mystery Caller

V1
Who might it be
Maybe a lonely alien
Oh, light years far away
Where skies are molten grey
Perhaps he envies me my blue
And hopes that he one day
Will have a close encounter
With a Terran who's lonely too

Chorus
Mystery caller
Morning and night
Mystery caller
Nowhere in sight
On my phone
…Mystery caller
Always ringing
Whenever I’m on my own

V2
Who might it be
Maybe an astral traveller
Adrift in realms unknown
Where winds of grief have blown
Perhaps he longs to find a place
That he might call his home
And someone there to greet him
With a smile and a loving face

Chorus
Mystery caller
Morning and night
Mystery caller
Nowhere in sight
On my phone
…Mystery caller
Always ringing
Whenever I’m on my own

Bridge
Whoever you are
Oh, make yourself known
In all of the universe
Nothing’s as bad as being alone

Chorus
Mystery caller
Morning and night
Mystery caller
Nowhere in sight
On my phone
…Mystery caller
Always ringing
Whenever I’m on my own
Honour the earth. Without It, we'd be nowhere. - D.D.

Oh lovely! And you've singled out that the "Mysterious caller" is the key to the puzzle.
I like it a lot.

And don't apologize for being silly; the whole puzzle is silly. But that's not the point. The next temp host my be suggesting a dead serious prompt, and we'll have to dig deep to unearth whatever needs to be unearthed.

Let's wait for
(@DonMar)
@Mo
@Dutchbeat
@Bill from November Sound
and myself
and see what they can come up with.

Being patient (or trying to be) is a good exercise for me.
Kind regards, Gus

Absolutely. But @Mo had doubts, so I wanted to leave all possibilities open.

Actually, i can not remember that retweet

never mind, please leave some comments on the site
it doesn’t matter really…, not what you write
but DO click repost, and leave YET another like
then forward that.. to give every follower an invite

OK, Angelina, I see you just got an adorable dog
I mean, that cute photo, on the top, of your facebook blog
the one with all the hearts..the glitter AND the fog!!!  :o :o
did you really select that puppy from a shelter catalogue?   :o

but you doubted between saving a puppy or a kitten..
and.....you’re going to keep the puppy’s name hidden
Because…..I can win a prize, by guessing the dog's name?
and.. you are not giving away that the puppy is male

Ok, mhhh…let me guess…I sense…the pups name is …Charlie…..
Mr. Bojangles?…or…. just…Brad?...  ::) ::)...amazing…  I got that:o :o
from just looking at his cute face.… i also sense….
